FAFD introduced a new ‘crew’ member this week- A DJI MAVIC 2 ENTERPRISE ADVANCED Thermal/4K/48Mp Professional Drone. The funds for the drone were donated by Karl Witt of the KW Corporation, who wanted to help the fire department better serve the community with something technology related. Karl’s buisness revolves around technology and this UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) has been on FAFD’s agenda for a couple years. The drone will help the fire department enhance the way we deliver care to our residents in multiple capacities. The drone will aid in search and rescue, structure and wild fires, as well as MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) calls. During an incident and/or major event, the drone can aid in damage assessment, fire extension and rescue & recovery in a particular area that may be inaccessible or very hard to get to for rescue crews. All who will pilot the drone will be FAA part 107 certified and licensed and experienced with public safety UAS operations. The department is very excited to have this aircraft system added to its fleet. (Read More About Our “NEW” Program In This Weekends Fowlerville News Online or The New And Views Paper Copy)
